HiiROC has been working with Futuria Fuels, SHV Energy’s sustainable energy group, to assess the opportunity in offering clean hydrogen to off-grid customers.

Leveraging the existing LPG distribution network and combining it with @HiiROC’s proprietary #ThermalPlasmaElectrolysis process, we can produce clean hydrogen using a fifth of the electricity of water electrolysis and producing no carbon dioxide.  Together, we have validated TPE as a pathway to produce clean hydrogen from LPG or sustainable bioLPG, and Futuria’s own @drkeithsimons shared highlights of our work together at LPG Week in Cape Town last Tuesday.

In addition to producing affordable and clean hydrogen, TPE produces solid carbon. This valuable byproduct has many useful applications, such as increasing the durability of tyres and enhancing the performance of road surfacing.

HiiROC CEO, Tim Davies, says, “HiiROC is delighted to be working with Futuria Fuels, proving that LPG can be an effective and affordable carrier of low-carbon hydrogen for off-grid energy applications – produced at the point of use and avoiding the need for expensive and complex hydrogen transport and storage.”
